The Hot Tire Problem in Texas

Standard epoxy has a thermal limitation that matters enormously in Katy TX. When you pull a car into the garage after driving in July or August, tire surface temperatures can be 150°F or higher. Standard epoxy softens significantly above 140°F. When the hot tires sit on soft epoxy and then cool, the contraction can pull sections of the coating off the floor.

This is called hot tire delamination — and it's one of the most common failure modes for standard epoxy systems in the Houston metro. The patch pattern is distinctive: rectangular areas near where tire tracks stop, lifting in the first year or two after install.

Why Polyaspartic Solves This

UV-stable polyaspartic coatings maintain their Shore D hardness at significantly higher temperatures than standard epoxy. A properly formulated polyaspartic topcoat won't soften under normal vehicle parking conditions — even in a Texas summer where uninsulated garage floors in direct sun reach 130–140°F+ surface temperatures even without a vehicle on them.

Motorcycles, ATVs, golf carts, and similar vehicles are all fine on a coated floor. Kickstands and small-footprint metal supports concentrate weight — they won't damage a properly cured polyaspartic coating.
