Removing the Failed Coating

Shot blasting is the most efficient way to remove a failed DIY epoxy coating. Shot blasting uses steel shot media propelled at high velocity to mechanically strip failed coating and simultaneously profile the concrete for the replacement coating. It's faster than grinding for removal of large areas and produces a consistent CSP (concrete surface profile). After shot blasting, we assess the underlying contamination and treat it appropriately.

Professional prep for a working garage includes: diamond grind or shot blast, alkaline degreaser, hot water pressure wash, visual and water-beading inspection, second degreaser pass if needed, moisture test, and primer selection matched to conditions. The coating system is 100% solids epoxy (not the 50% solids in DIY kits), broadcast aggregate for texture, and polyaspartic topcoat for durability.
